Enhancing operational efficiency and reliability of the testing services Automated Concrete Cube Testing System 自動混凝土磚測試系統 有效提升運作效率 提高測試可靠性 The system measures the dimensions and mass of the concrete cube samples, and the data would be recorded automatically in the system. 系統量度混凝土磚的尺寸及重量，並自動記錄數據於系統中。 The system utilises computer vision analysis technology, artificial intelligence, as well as machine learning, to distinguish whether the failure mode of the concrete cube is satisfactory in accordance with the testing standard. 系統應用了電腦視覺分析技術及人工智能，透過機械學習，判斷混凝土磚的破裂模式 是否符合測試規範的要求。 Logistics and Supply Chain MultiTech R&D Centre (LSCM) has been working closely with the Government, Industry and academia to develop innovative technologies and promote technology adoption to help different industries enhance efficiency and productivity. Utilising their respective expertise in technology R&D and construction, LSCM and Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) jointly developed the Automated Concrete Cube Testing System to enhance the efficiency of the concrete cube testing services in CEDD’s Public Works Laboratories (PWL). The system is the first of its kind worldwide. It was awarded in the 48th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, 3rd Asia Exhibition of Innovations and Inventions Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers Grand Award (Industrial Category) in 2023. The Automated Concrete Cube Testing System is a complete end-to-end system with the application of technologies including robotics, Internet-of-Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) analytics. The system comprises an overhead xyz-axis moving stage, robotic arm on rail, laser 3-dimensions measurement device and compression test machine to carry out the complete concrete cube testing procedures, including concrete cube curing, mass and dimension measurement, as well as compression testing.
